What shared Nancy and Pauline on International Friendship Day?
Two Seniors Nancy and Pauline have been friends at Brookdale Asheville
Two women in Asheville spoke to News 13 about what it means to them to stick by each other no matter what.
Nancy and Pauline have been friends at Brookdale Asheville Overlook for a year, yet they still vividly recall that day.
“At the Western North Carolina Baptist Home in Asheville, North Carolina, I first met Nancy. When she sat across from me in the dining room that day, I looked at her and said, “I’ll see you on December 15 – and that came true,” recalled Nancy’s best friend Pauline Brinkley.
On International Friendship Day, two seniors talk about their unique friendship and say, “I thank God he sent her my way.”
Nancy Suddreth, Pauline’s best friend, remarked, “From the moment I came to the other place we were at, we’ve just been really close. “And when we moved over here, we were as close.”
They spend a lot of time getting to know one another and making up for missed time since they live practically next to one another.
We communicate three times each day. We have breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the evening, Pauline remarked. We always like it when she knocks on my door, and we sit in our recliners and chat, remembering our youth and where we were raised. To me, she is special.
They now truly value each other after spending so much time together.
Oh, I know just the right thing to tell you about her, Pauline said. “She has the most stunning smile of anyone in this facility. She never stops grinning. She always appears joyful.
Nancy described Pauline as being “just such a sweet person, and I love her so much.”
Although the bond may have developed later in life, it will last for many more years to come.
I may claim at any time that she is my true buddy, Pauline said. It’s very special to me to be able to have one.” She is by my side no matter where we go. I’m grateful that God directed her towards me.
