In Gujarat state’s Sagar Kant, Saurashtra, is home to the majestic temple known as Somnath. At Jyotirlinga here in Somnath, one of Lord Shiva’s 12 sacred idols is located. The Rigveda refers Somnath as well. Many destructive foreign invaders have been drawn to this temple of Somnath and have sought to be seduced and won over by its splendor. It has always been rebuilt after every attempt at destruction by the temple.
